200 acres or 80 hectare for 1 MW Biomass Power project
Among the several options available for captive power production, biomass based power plants are the most environmental friendly.Biomass is an important source of energy in topical countries. Properly managed biomass energy plantation can be sustainable, environmentally advantageous, economically sound and generates substantial local employment.
Tropical countries enjoy the favorable condition for growing biomass, however lack of information and implementation of technology in biomass production by energy plantation has restricted its growth.
Beema Bamboo for Energy Plantation |
Under intensive cultivation of Beema Bamboo with the population of 1000 to 1200 plants per acre, the Biomass yield starts from 3rd year at 30 tons per acre and increase to 40 tons in the next year and stabilizes at 50 tons from 5th year onwards. Under regular population density of 200 plants per acre, the Biomass harvest starts from 5th year with an ield of 30 tons/acre, increase to 40 and 45 tons in the subsequent years and stabilizes at 50 to 55 tons from 8th year onwards. Due to planting of genetically superior clones and following the precision farming practices, the Biomass yield of Beema Bamboo is so high that area required for energy plantation is reduced to 1/3rd, in other words Biomass available from 3 acres from regular plantation can be obtained from 1 acre of energy plantation of Beema Bamboo.
Biomass Power Project of 1MW (1 mw / hour 7200 mw hours / year) can sustainbly produced electricity for a several years with 200 aces(80 hectare) of Beema Bamboo energy plantation cultivated under high density plantation as per the precision forming methodology recommended by Growmore Biotech Ltd.
At present, managed Bamboo plantations are not available due to lack of information and technology adoption in the field level. The common Bamboo available is thorny and making difficult to cultivate and harvest. The new high yielding clone of Beema Bamboo developed is thornless , fast growing, thick walled, non-flowering and responsive to field management practice. Due to lack of availability of such superior clones of Bamboo and assure buy back arrangement and lack of awareness of the yielding potential and economics, bamboo cultivation is not popular among farmers. Considering the future trend in agriculture, increase in labour cost and availability, plantations of bamboo would come up as alternative for many field crops.
The energy potential of "Fast growing grass - Beema Bamboo" remains untapped due to lack of awareness of its potential. Beema Bamboo has an energy value of 4000Kcal. with an ash content of 0.4 to 1%. at low cost production cost of 1/5th of the pre-dominant energy source-coal. Beema Bamboo stands 1st when it compared with commonly available agri waste - rice husk(20% ash content), Coal (10 - 15% ash content). There is no sulphar content in Beema Bamboo Biomass as compared to coal or furnace oil whereas its energy value is almost 80% as that of coal.
Beema Bamboo is the fastest growing plant, which grows 1.5 ft to 3 ft a day. The carbon content of 45% to 50% in the Biomass is the result of carbon sequestration by photosynthesis. In the process of photosynthesis, the carbon from carbon-di oxide in the atmosphere is absorbed and oxygen is released into the environment whereby it not only earns carbon credit, but also cleans the environment to provide oxygen for all other living beings in the world. A well grown Beema Bamboo plantation is able to sequester close close to 60 tons of carbon-di oxide in every acre annually which is 60 CER of carbon trading.
Cultivation of Beema Bamboo, apart from cleaning -up the atmospheric air from CO2, it is also capable of absorbing water which are not fit for regular agriculture and also ETP(EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANTS) water from industries. A well-designed and managed Beema Bamboo grove can absorb substantial quality of ETP water which could be 10 to 14 times faster than the ground evaporation and provide income through Biomass generation and carbon credit which sustains the operation.
Today farmers are facing difficulties in continuing agriculture in many parts of the country due to several reasons such as increase in cost of labour, non-availability of labour, perishable nature of the agriculture commodity, variation in the price, lack of assured and direct marketing of the product produced, reduction in availability & quality of water and migration of the land lords from village to the nearest towns and cities leading absent landlordism and lack of personal supervision in agri farming.
Cultivation of Beema Bamboo is the best solution to address all the above problems apart from good assured return to the farmers as compared to the present crops. Cultivation of Beema Bamboo will certainly ensure a return of 40,000 to 50,000 rupees per acre/year, which is lucrative than many other agriculture crops being cultivated. In fact, the average return per acre in farming is less than Rs.10,000/- per annum with many problems and uncertainly in the realizable income.

Among many benefits of Beema Bamboo being used as Biomass, the ash generation is very less as compared to many other Biomass sources. In the integrated Beema Bamboo energy farming along with buy back arrangement, returning the ash back to the Beema Bamboo farms balances the minerals and nutrients depleted from the soil and improves the sustainability of soil nutrient.
The essential key factor for the success of the project is scientific cultivation of Beema Bamboo adopting precision farming know-how combined with high quality disease free, high yielding clone of Beema Bamboo.

Dear Sir,
ReplyDeleteI have been studying on this beena bamboo and its conversion into fuels. And i was doing calculation for its use in automotive purpose.
Will you please tell me how much beena bamboo, is required to produce to produce 1 ltr or 100 ltr of automotive fuel.
Good Day from Growmore!!!
DeleteBamboo can produce ethanol in which 25% ethanol blends with fuel for the present day vehicle with no modification. If appropriate changes are made, vehicles can run even with 100% ethanol (Already four buses running with 100% ethanol in Nagpur for the past three months).
Brazil is selling ethanol in the petrol bunk ranging from 50% to 100% and vehicles are being used as fuel.
We have tested Beema Bamboo, 4 kilograms of Beema Bamboo will give 1 to 1.2 lit of ethanol which can be used as automotive fuel.
Dear Sir we have land bank and having experience in biomass fuel plantation like CO4 and Subhabul / Sebania sesban pls contact for plantations 9422868986 bdbv11@gmail.com

Need Beema Bamboo plants, please let me know how to get them
ReplyDeleteOur Beema Bamboo plants are readily available in Hosur. you can get directly from here.please send your requirement.
DeleteDo you have any experience in making bamboo charcoal using bheema ?
ReplyDeleteMany of our clients have processed our Beema bamboo into charcoal and found encouraging results. The approximate recovery of charcoal would be 30 – 35 kg from every 100 kg of bamboo and the quantity depends on the type of kiln used for making charcoal. The calorific value of charcoal varies from 6000 -7000 kcal per kg.
DeleteBeema bamboo produces the best activated charcoal. It was found at Indian institute of Science (IIS) that the activated charcoal of Beema bamboo has surface area of 900 - 950 square meter per gram of charcoal.

Our Beema bamboo is highly suitable “Energy Plantation” which would generate biomass continuously, sustainable basis at a low cost with an energy value of 4000 Kcal per kg and with ash content 1-2%.
DeleteAmong many Energy Plantation crop, Beema Bamboo based energy plantation is best for tropical and subtropical climatic condition. The investment would vary based on many factors. However 1 ton of biomass production would need an initial investment of Rs.3500 – 4000, once in a block of 50 years. The operational cost to produce 1 ton of Beema bamboo biomass would be Rs.750 -800 per ton.If the initial investment is amortized over 10 years, the cost of production of 1 ton of Bamboo biomass would be Rs.1300.
Can the beema bamboo be used for biodiesel production?
ReplyDeleteYes, we can use Beema Bamboo for Biodiesel production. Beema bamboo can be converted into biodiesel by Fischer – Tropsch reaction into “Wood oil”. Approximately 4 kgs of dry bamboo will produce 1 liter of oil along with 1 kilo of Biochar (charcoal) .
Deletehello, I have read the complete article on this site . I just wanna ask you few questions for my curiosity again.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me the cost estimation for Beema bamboo for 1 acre for 1 year?
how many tones of production we can get in 1 acre of land?
Can tell us the yield and returns we can get for the crop for 1 acre ?
and my last question , how and where can we sell this crop ? will you be helping us in getting us the business for selling it ?
we a team of 5 , planning to start the business on it , so can you please comment on this
The cost of cultivation for the High Density under Indian condition of bamboo plantation with drip irrigation and fertigation for the first year it is 1,00,000 Rs and second year it is 35,000 Rs and from third year onwards every year 40,000 Rs.
DeleteDepending on the agricultural practices and based on the environmental condition of the location, our Beema bamboo can yield 30 tons in the third year after plantation, 35 tons in the fourth year and 40 tons from fifth year onwards. All the information on costing and yield are average, likely to vary from place to place and existing condition of the field. One can consider a lowest price of 3,500 Rs to highest price of 8000 Rs per ton. Even at the lowest price of 3,500 Rs on a stabilized yield of 40 tons there will be an annual sale of 1,40,000 Rs, after deducting the expenditure of 40,000 Rs there will be a net profit of 1,00,000 Rs per acre, If bamboo is cultivated by adapting precision farming method.
We don’t have buy-back arrangement or sale of bamboo through us. We will assist you in locating possible bamboo offtake sources. Please let us know the location and cultivation of bamboo and accordingly we will assist you.

The tissue culture Beema bamboo can be exported after the completion of primary hardening in the green house in India. The primary hardened Beema bamboo plants which will be 5 to 6 inches in height, fully hardened in the green house for 3 months, grown in soil free media, will have 1 to 2 shoots ready to be planted in polybag in green house.
Since the plants are 5 to 6 inches, it should be grown in a polybag for the next 3 months to get a height of 2 feet. This should be done under a nursery condition, having shade net or in shade net house. After 2 months, the plants will be ready for planting to the main field. We can see that the plants will be delivered in 48 hours from India.
hello Sir
ReplyDeletepl. inform if beema bamboo can be cultivated successfully in Punjab.
We are very much glad to know your interest regarding Beema bamboo cultivation in Punjab. Beema bamboo can be grown in Punjab provided the place is warm enough. If Sugarcane is cultivated in that area, our Beema bamboo can be grown very well. The growth of the Beema bamboo is lower when the temperature falls below 5 degree celcius.
DeletePlease inform your place, location and the lowest temperature it reaches in the night time and for how many days. Based on your information, we can confirm the growth of Beema Bamboo.
